The works in this exhibition loosely examine issues of gender, androgyny, self-representation and identity within the constructs of serial imagery. Variables and complexities inherent in photography such as image, truth, reality, subject, and context are often accentuated, sublimated or obscured by photographs with a distinct or special relationship to one another.

This summer show, while providing an excellent opportunity to evaluate the vagaries of the photographic image, also allows us to exhibit two of our veteran photographers, John Coplans and Wolfgang Tillmans, with two emerging artists utilizing the same medium, Dexter Buell and Vibeke Tandberg.
